HopeTree Family Services Acquires Camp HopeTree
HopeTree Family Services announces it has received, through a donation by Dare to Care Charities, the Camp VA Jaycee property located in Bedford County near the community of Blue Ridge. The Camp VA Jaycee location has a long and distinguished history of serving individuals with intellectual disabilities through providing summer camp opportunities. HopeTree Family Services and Dare to Care Charities entered into a partnership in 2008 to construct the Wilkinson Home home for adults with intellectual disabilities on the Camp VA Jaycee property. For the past several years, Camp Coley-Keaton has been held at the Camp VA Jaycee property each July.
When Dare to Care Charities decided to seek a new entity to supervise and operate the camp property, that organization turned to HopeTree Family Services due to their shared mission of caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
“We are honored Dare to Care Charities would present us with this tremendously generous gift. We also see this as a great opportunity to expand both our missions in ministering to a very deserving group of people,” said Dr. Stephen Richerson, President and Executive Director of HopeTree Family Services.
In light of the new ownership arrangement, the property is now known as Camp HopeTree. A number of activities were scheduled to take place at the camp location long before the property transfer took place. Those reservations will be honored.
